IOWA

The U.S. Army Contracting Command is planning to expand the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown. The project entails building a new melt-pour line with the capacity to produce 85,000 rounds of 155-mm artillery shells per month. Site preparation by American Ordnance LLC has begun. MINNESOTA

Beltrami County plans to build a 242-bed jail in Bemidji. Construction Engineers Inc., acting as the county’s project consultant, is seeking proposals from architectural firms to provide services for the concept development and possible design of the jail. The county intends to hire an architectural firm to develop ideas and concepts for a new jail facility. If later approved, the county may elect to retain the same architectural firm to create design and construction documents. The project is valued at $500 million. MISSISSIPPI

PraCon Global Investment Group LLC is planning to develop Prado Lofts at Meadowbrook in Jackson. The four-story, 286,725-sq-ft building will contain 215 apartments. It will be located at the corner of Meadowbrook Road and North State Street in the North Fondren neighborhood. It is being designed by Dale Partners Architects. NEW HAMPSHIRE

Tuscan Brands LLC is planning to build the Tuscan Village Life Science R&D campus in Salem. The project entails constructing six buildings totaling 1.2-million sq ft. They include: Building 5100 (5-story office building); Building 5200A (3-story office building); Building 5200 (6-story manufacturing building); Building 5300 (6-story manufacturing building); Building 5400 (3-story warehouse): and Building 5500 (5-story parking garage). UTAH

The City of Provo is planning to construct the Provo River Water Treatment Plant. The project entails construction, startup and commissioning of a 30-MGD ultrafiltration membrane drinking water treatment plant, including the main water treatment plant facility with administration building; 2MG clearwell with drain vault and overflow structure; high-service pump station; 36-in.-dia transmission pipeline with valve vault; 42-in.-dia mill race pipeline with diversion box; and electrical system and controls including three 1,000-kW natural gas generators. Blue Skye/Coakley Williams Joint Venture has started carrying out the Truesdell Elementary School modernization project. The project entails completely renovating the existing historic building and constructing a three-story addition to Building B and a two-story addition to Building C. The project was designed by VMDO Architects. Construction is expected to be completed by August 2026. The project is valued at $72 million. HAWAII

The joint venture of Dragados/Hawaiian Dredging/Orion has started constructing Dry Dock 5, a concrete dry dock at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. It will be able to service Virginia-class submarines and larger surface vessels, which some of the older dry docks cannot. Construction is expected to be completed by September 2027. CALIFORNIA

9/7 The South Coast Water District is requesting qualifications from progressive design-build-operate-maintain teams for the Doheny Ocean Desalination Plant in Dana Point. The plan will be located on a 30-acre site near San Juan Creek, about 2,500 ft from the beach north of Pacific Coast Highway. It will have 4-5 MGD capacity. As planned, three slant wells at Doheny State Beach would draw water from beneath the ocean floor, with about 90% of the water coming from the ocean and 10% from water that drains to the ocean from San Juan Creek. The facility will include buildings and structures used for pretreatment, chemical storage, reverse osmosis, energy recovery systems and post-treatment water conditioning necessary to meet drinking water standards, and connections to allow off-site disposal of brine. It will also include an administration building that would house offices, a control room and laboratory. The project is valued at between $60 million and $65 million.
