Buildots has launched Plan Tracker—a new suite of tools to help construction project managers plan and track weekly activities and milestones using project-specific data.

The product monitors plan progress and tracks improvement in project performance from Buildots' platform, which calculates project progress based on reality captures from hardhat-mounted 360° cameras. Armed with these insights, project managers can adapt their plans to changing realities on the ground in order to avoid construction delays.

The software derives its management approach from lean construction methods. Buildots has sought since its founding in Tel Aviv, Israel in 2018 to bring better metrics to construction sites to use lean methods more efficiently.

Plan Tracker includes two new tools, Workplan and Targets, both of which are driven by site progress data from Buildots' cameras and AI algorithms. Workplan helps project managers break down their project plans into smaller tasks, set due dates, share a plan with relevant trade contractors, compare actual progress against plans, and improve performance based on system-provided feedback.

Targets is intended to help managers set critical milestones and track the project's progression toward those goals, including subcontractor performance and supply chain issues. Users can add new operational and contractual targets, assign related tasks and activities, and set due dates from Targets. The tool is meant to identify issues early on and take corrective measures to ensure project milestones are met and prevent work stoppages and delays, all while fostering accountability among the team and with subcontractors.

“With Buildots Plan Tracker, I can pinpoint critical milestones and actively monitor our progress towards them. It keeps us focused and helps to course-correct if needed,” EllisDon senior superintendent Chris Masse said in a Buildots statement at the time of the software release July 6. He said he is an early adopter of the technology, currently using it in the construction of the 254,000-sq-ft Schwartz Reisman Innovation Centre at the University of Toronto.

"Plan Tracker gives our customers greater control and more ways to interact with and gain value from the unique dataset generated by Buildots," said Aviv Leibovici, Buildots co-founder and chief product officer, in a statement. "We realized that there are countless situations and decisions that construction managers face that could greatly benefit from the data collected on-site. Plan Tracker presents a bridge between this invaluable data and the managers who need it, providing unprecedented insights that will now help them manage projects even more effectively.”

The Plan Tracker suite is now available immediately to all current Buildots users and new customers.
