Mitra Chem is planning to construct a lithium iron phosphate cathode manufacturing plant in Mountain Valley. The project scope includes construction of building space and equipment foundations; and purchase and installation of chemical storage tanks, conveyors, and storage, mixing, coating and drying equipment. Bechtel Corp. has been selected to provide front-end engineering design services for the project and will likely be selected to provide engineering, procurement and construction services. Construction is expected to begin in the second or third quarter of 2023. The estimated EPC cost is $50 million. Mitra will use the plant to manufacture LFP cathodes for use in electric vehicles. GEORGIA

BrightFarms Inc. is planning to construct four hydroponic greenhouses on a 192.6-acre site in Macon. The phased project scope includes construction of four 370,000-sq-ft greenhouse structures and a 179,000-sq-ft headhouse; and purchase and installation of climate control, water recycling, irrigation, conveying, harvesting, vegetable cleaning, sorting, refrigeration and packaging equipment. Clayco has been preselected to provide design-build services for the project. BrightFarms produces arugula, kale, spinach, romaine and other lettuces. The estimated EPC cost is $125 million. MARYLAND

Ferguson Enterprises LLC is planning to construct a heating, ventilation and air conditioning and plumbing supplies distribution facility at the National Capital Business Park in Upper Marlboro. The project scope includes construction of a 360,000-sq-ft building with a 36-ft ceiling height; and purchase and installation of dock equipment for 56 loading docks. A joint venture between Manekin LLC and Turnbridge Equities is developing the building. ARCO Design/Build has been selected to provide general construction services for the building shell and the Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. has been selected to provide general construction services for the fit-out.
