Alabama Polyplex (USA) LLC is planning to expand its 180,000-sq-ft polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film manufacturing plant in Decatur. The project scope includes construction of a 200,000-sq-ft building expansion; debottlenecking of the resin production lines; installation of a biaxially oriented PET film line; and purchase and installation of silos, mixers, extruders, resin dryers, conveyors and chillers. The expansion will increase film production capacity by 110 million lb per year and captive resin production to 190 million lb from 127.9 million lb per year. Germany-based Lindauer Dornier GmbH will supply the BOPET line. Construction is expected to begin in the first or second quarter of 2021. The estimated EPC cost is $120 million. Georgia La Regina Atlantica LLC is planning to establish a tomato sauce production facility in Alma. The project scope includes installation of stainless steel tanks and piping, mixing, cooking and filling equipment to be imported from Italy; and purchase and installation of racking, conveyors, ingredient and finished product storage and packaging equipment. Equipment will be installed in a 226,000-sq-ft existing food-grade building. Equipment installation is expected to begin in April 2021. The estimated EPC cost is $20 million. Michigan Jervis B. Webb Co. is planning to construct a material-handling systems manufacturing plant on a 22-acre site in Boyne City. The project scope includes construction of a 210,000-sq-ft building; and purchase, relocation and installation of overhead cranes and fabrication, welding, assembly, finishing and testing equipment. Equipment will be relocated from the company’s existing plants in Boyne City and Harbor Springs. Integrity Construction Services LLC has been selected to provide general construction services. The new plant is expected to be operational by mid-2022. Webb will use the plant to consolidate its operations in Northern Mich. and produce components for airport luggage handling systems and automated guided vehicles.
