Indiana DAK Americas LLC is planning to expand its recycled polyethylene terephthalate resins (rPET) plant in Richmond. The project scope includes upfit of a prefabricated metal building expansion, and purchase and installation of material handling and supporting equipment. Construction is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2020. DAK Americas, a unit of Mexico-based Alpek Polyester, acquired the plant from Perpetual Recycling Solutions in February 2019 and uses it to convert waste PET bottles into rPET for reuse in manufacturing new bottles. Oregon Blount Fine Foods Corp. is planning to establish a soup production facility at the 80,000-sq-ft former Harry’s Fresh Foods building in Portland. The project scope includes purchase and installation of conveying, mixing, blending, cooking, filling and packaging equipment. Blount Fine Foods produces soups, side dishes and sauces. South Carolina Volvo Car Corp. is planning to construct an electric vehicle battery assembly plant at its campus in Ridgeville. The project scope includes construction of a building, installation of a robotic battery assembly line, and purchase and installation of supporting equipment. Construction is expected to begin late in the third quarter of 2020. The plant will assemble batteries for an all-electric sports utility vehicle that is scheduled to start production at the Ridgeville campus in 2022. South Dakota Royal Canin USA is planning to expand production capacity at its 234,000-sq-ft pet food production facility in North Sioux City. The project scope includes purchase and installation of dry ingredient truck unloading equipment, a generator, silos, boilers and production lines. VinTek Solutions LLC has been selected to provide project management services. Equipment procurement is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2020. The estimated EPC cost is $100 million.
