California The Santa Clara Valley Water District is planning to carry out the Pacheco Reservoir Expansion project. The project entails constructing a new 319-ft long earthen dam with a concrete spillway, which will increase the reservoir’s capacity to 140,000 acre-ft. It also includes new pipelines and a mile-long tunnel connecting the new reservoir to the Pacheco Conduit, and a new pump station. Minnesota Cargill Inc. is planning to construct an addition to its Cargill Animal Nutrition Innovation Center in Elk River. Montana Absaroka Energy, LLC, is planning to develop the Gordon Butte Pumped Storage Project. It will include two 4,000-acre-ft reservoirs, each about 4,000 ft long and 1,000 ft wide, with depths of 50 to 75 ft. It will be located on a 177-acre site west of Martinsdale. An underground powerhouse with three Pelton turbine generators would be located at the bottom reservoir, and it will have a total installed generating capacity of 400 MW. North Carolina Piedmont Natural Gas Co. is planning to construct the Piedmont LNG Storage Facility on a 50-acre site on Route 71 between Maxton and Red Springs. Construction of the 1-billion-cu-ft storage facility is expected to begin in the summer of 2019 and be completed in the summer of 2021. The project is valued at $250 million. Colorado The Weitz Co. has begun building 6900 Layton Avenue in Denver, a 15-story, 380,000-sq-ft office building. Construction is expected to be completed by the summer of 2020. Located adjacent to the RTD light rail Belleview Station, the building is part of a master planned transit-oriented development. The project owner is Prime West Development.
