California and Texas CEMEX USA is planning to construct concrete admixture blending facilities at two of its cement plants in Texas and California. Each project scope includes construction of a 20,000-sq-ft building, and purchase and installation of chemical storage tanks and mixing, blending, filling and packaging equipment. Construction schedules are being developed. The plants will be used to produce water reducers, setting accelerators, retarders, air-entraining agents and specialty products for the company’s ready-mix operations. Florida SolarTech Universal LLC is considering establishing a second, photovoltaic solar panel assembly plant at an unselected site in Florida. The project scope includes either design and construction or renovation of a 120,000-sq-ft building, and installation of laminating, module production and inspection lines, which will be imported and relocated from a nearby port. Production equipment would be supplied by Switzerland-based Meyer Burger. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2019. Iowa Flint Hills Resources, LLC is planning to construct an animal feed ingredients production facility at its ethanol plant in Shell Rock. The project scope includes construction of a building and equipment foundations; installation of a filtration centrifuge; and purchase and installation of a screw conveyor, dryers, evaporators, and loadout equipment and systems. Fluid Quip Process Technologies LLC has been selected to provide design engineering services and proprietary technology for the project. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2019. The facility will process distillers grains by-product from the ethanol plant to produce a high-protein ingredient for fish and other animal feeds. Kentucky BR Retreading (also known as Brad Ragan Recycling Inc.) is planning to construct a tire retread and remanufacturing plant at the Highland Glen Industrial Park in Glasgow. The project scope includes construction of an 80,000- to 120,000-sq-ft building; and purchase and installation of waste-tire receiving and handling equipment, an air compressor system, molds, retread presses, steam and curing chambers, conveyors, and rubber compounding, skiving, filling, cutting, grooving and testing equipment. Nevada KRS Global Biotechnology Inc. is planning to construct a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Las Vegas. The project scope includes design and construction of a 150,000-sq-ft building with clean room and wet laboratory space, and purchase and installation of an air compressor system, sterile IV manufacturing and filling lines, autoclaves, ovens, floor scales, incubators, and cold storage, orbital welding, labeling and packaging equipment. New York Anat Inc. is planning to construct a vodka distillery, Sanborn Distilling Corp., in Wheatfield. The project scope includes renovation of 10,000 sq ft of building space; construction of a 25,000-sq-ft building; and purchase and installation of racking, fermentation tanks, stainless steel piping, and milling, distilling, blending, filling and flow control equipment. The facility will have the capacity to produce 250,000 liters of drinkable alcohol and one million liters of denatured ethanol per year. North Carolina Cheney Brothers Inc. is planning to establish a specialty foods processing and distribution facility for its Southern Foods affiliate on a 6.3-acre site in Greensboro. The project scope includes renovation of a 78,000-sq-ft building; construction of a 20,000-sq-ft building expansion with a mezzanine; and purchase and installation of conveyors, racking, and cutting and packaging equipment. West Virginia ND Paper LLC is planning to acquire and expand the Resolute Forest Products Inc. recycled pulp mill in Fairmont. The project scope includes building upgrades and purchase and installation of equipment to increase recycled bleached kraft pulp (RBK) production capacity. The mill currently produces approximately 218,000 metric tons of air-dried RBK per year. Additional details regarding project scope and schedule will be available following completion of the acquisition, expected in the fourth quarter of 2018.
