The private developers of Kansas City, Mo.’s new airport terminal have adjusted the project’s cost, estimating that the $964-million public-private venture approved by voters in November 2017 will now require as much as $1.4 billion. Edgemoor Infrastructure and Real Estate, a Bethesda, Md.-based consortium that includes Clark Construction Group, expects to complete the 1-million-sq-ft terminal in October 2022, nearly a year later than planned. Kansas City’s tenant airlines, which are funding design and construction of the new terminal, requested the addition of four gates to the original 35-gate plan. Edgemoor must also reach an agreement with the city’s labor unions before it can finalize a guaranteed maximum price for the project.
