Transportation Lobbyist Is Set to Run ACEC
Linda Bauer Darr has been named president and CEO of the American Council of Engineering Cos., effective in August, according to the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association, which announced on June 6 her resignation as president next month, a post she has held since 2014.
The group represents 600 short line and regional railroads and supply firms. Bauer Darr also was CEO of the American Moving & Storage Association and was a U.S. Transportation Dept. deputy assistant secretary for budget and programs in the Clinton administration.
She is set to succeed David A. Raymond, who is retiring from the role at the 5,000-member ACEC after 19 years. He joined the advocacy group in 1999. An ACEC spokesman says the group’s board will vote on Bauer Darr’s hiring in July.
USI Insurance Service, Valhalla, N.Y., has hired Danette Beck as national construction practice leader. She was managing director of insurance broker Marsh USA Inc. and leader of its construction practice, based in Los Angeles.
Kiewit Development Co., the infrastructure investment unit of Kiewit Corp., elevated President John McArthur to chairman. Succeeding him is Sam Chai, former chief operating officer and head of asset development. Quirino Pollice was elevated to executive vice president of asset management.
Christina Ernst is set to join INTREN—a Union, Ill., specialty utility contractor and certified women business enterprise—as a board director, following the close in late June of its purchase of Miller Construction Co., of which she was CEO. The deal would add 175 employees to INTREN’s current 1,600-person workforce, the firm said.
In a planned succession, RMF Engineering has named chief operating officer Kenneth E. Pitz president and CEO, with Duane Pinnix remaining at the firm as a principal and board director. Pitz was CEO since 2003. Broadway Construction Group, a New York City construction manager-contractor, has elevated Everard Martin to president. He joined the firm in 2015 from an executive role at Plaza Construction.
