Merrick & Co.—a Denver-area-based engineering, architecture, design-build, surveying, planning and geospatial solutions firm—is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Merrick serves domestic and international clients in the energy, national security, life sciences and sustainable infrastructure markets.

“Sears Merrick would be proud to know that the firm he started in 1955 is now providing over $100 million of services annually for projects on all seven continents,” said Dave Huelskamp, president and CEO of Merrick. “We owe this success to our excellent clients and our committed professionals who provide expert project solutions for both government and industry. I am honored to be CEO of Merrick and look forward to many more decades of success in the future.”

Merrick was founded in 1955 in Denver by Sears Merrick. Originally established to provide civil engineering and surveying services, Merrick began evolving its capabilities in architecture and multi-disciplinary engineering.

In the 1980s, the firm added core competencies in geographic information systems, chemical process engineering and nuclear facility and custom equipment design. Today, Merrick is well-known in the industry, especially for technical expertise and full-service offerings, allowing clients the opportunity to work with one firm throughout the entire value chain. Merrick operates out of 20 offices throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.

“2015 is truly a special year for Merrick. We were recognized by ENR as the Mountain States Region Design Firm of the Year, and it’s our 60th Anniversary,” said Chris Sherry, senior vice president and COO of Merrick. “I’m thankful for all of the excellent clients we’ve served over the past 60 years and very proud of our employees that really make Merrick an exceptional company.”

The firm celebrated its anniversary on October 20 at its corporate headquarters in Greenwood Village.

On October 29, Merrick will accept the 2015 Colorado/Wyoming Design Firm of the Year award during the ENR Mountain States Regional Best Projects Awards breakfast in Denver.
