Project Will More Than Double the Output of 160-MW Windfarm
Germany's Bilfinger Berger Bau A.G., with a local partner, has been contracted by Denmark's Dong Energy to build foundations for a 91-turbine, 200-MW windfarm in the North Sea, 30 kilometers west of Esbjerg, Denmark. Work on the $650-million Horns Rev 2 project, an expansion of the nearby Rev 1, is to begin next spring. Steel tubes, 40 m long and 4 m in diameter, will be driven 20 m into the seabed in 20 m of water to support 140-tonne steel towers. Hubs will be 70 m above the sea.
