Global warming remains a hot Capitol Hill topic, with public and private officials appearing before committees to prescribe solutions for climate change. The latest headliner was former Vice President Al Gore, who on March 21 discussed climate change at two hearings and declared that “the planet has a fever.” His recommendations include an immediate freeze on carbon dioxide emissions levels, followed by reduction of emissions, and a moratorium on new coal-fired powerplants lacking carbon capture and sequestration technology.

Senate environment committee Chairman Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) applauded Gore’s views, but Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) told Gore, “Your global warming alarmist pronouncements are now and have always been filled with inaccuracies and misleading statements.”
