A Senate floor vote is the next step for legislation to continue federal aid for state dam safety programs. The House on Sept. 27 approved a five-year extension, which authorizes $59.2 million for the program. That includes $38.7 million for Federal Emergency Management Agency grants to states. In the Senate, the Environment and Public Works Committee in May cleared its version, for five years and $63.5 million.
