EMCOR, Norwalk Conn., said Aug. 13 that it will work with the "Provider Relationship Management" service of BuildPoint Corp., Redwood Shores, Calif. EMCOR will place company profiles on BuildPoint's public directory this fall. Comprehensive prequalification data and project profile sheets for each EMCOR company, which are in 130 locations around the world, will follow. General contractors seeking bidders from regions they have not worked in before will be able to access the data through BuildPoint's PRM 2 application, which also has tools for bid management and subcontractor performance tracking.
Rich Aquino, vice president of Business Development for EMCOR Group, says the company could have posted the information on its own Website, but as the number of general contractors using the BuildPoint site grows, "that system gets to be the better place to park information."
The McGraw-Hill Companies, parent of ENR, has an investment interest in BuildPoint.
MCOR Group Inc., whose 65 companies specialize in mechanical and electrical construction and management of facilities infrastructure, has selected a Web service to market all of them to general contractors.
