2014 Best Intermountain Safety Project and Award of Merit Office: Xactware Bldg.
The 210,000-sq-ft Xactware headquarters was designed to attract the best talent in the industry. The building features offices with panoramic views of Utah Valley, along with beach volleyball courts, basketball courts, a fitness center and a state-of-the-art data center with outstanding security systems. The environmentally friendly and energy-efficient building is constructed to LEED-Gold standards.
The Big-D Construction team tackled this project with a proactive posture regarding safety. Construction activities were analyzed for hazards, which were controlled through compliance measures and best industry safety practices.
All employees were empowered with the authority to stop work when unidentified hazards were observed or encountered. TH!NK forms were audited daily for accuracy in identifying real-time hazards and to ensure that proper controls were being implemented. Project participants also received task-specific safety training for any assignments that might have exposed them to unfamiliar hazards or procedures.
