The ASID Awards represent the highest level of professional recognition bestowed by the society, and the new Elevate Awards allows the best of the best on a chapter level to compete with other local chapter award winners nationally. Gillian Johnson, principal and lead designer on the project, was honored at the ASID Celebration in Los Angeles on June 21 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.

The design concept for the 66,000-sq-ft office space was to showcase the power and talent of the partners and convey a sense of joy and comfort for visitors. Details are simple yet carefully articulated, creating a sense of discovery as one looks more closely.

An inventive combination of traditional materials such as wood, glass and metal identifies the law firm as a being rooted in tradition, yet progressively looking toward the future. Visually paramount was the bold bumblebee stripe carried throughout the millwork and more subtly in the flooring and ceiling of the boardroom.

“Holland & Hart deserves all the credit for this award since they immediately embraced the power of design,” said Johnson. “They recognized how design can advance how law is practiced today and how it will be practiced in the future—and that promotes the longstanding authenticity of who they are as a firm.”
