Salt Lake City’s Hunt Electric recently reached two million man-hours worked without a lost-time accident. Hunt Electric employees have worked

More than four consecutive years without any job-related injuries resulting in time off.
Hunt Electric Human Resource Manager Cathy Stoehr says that employees have been extremely supportive of the company’s efforts to maintain a strong safety culture. Hunt emphasizes continuous safety training, hosts skill development classes and insists upon safety in the field.

“We have provided our employees with an opportunity to take responsibility for their work behavior and be an example to other trades around them. It turns around as a positive, significant bottom-line impact on the corporation,” says Hunt Electric President Troy Gregory.

“I would like to thank each employee for their participation in this amazing accomplishment, as well as the community for trusting us to meet the high standards of safety on their valued projects,” says Hunt Electric CEO Richard Hunt.

Hunt Electric was also awarded this year’s Associated General Contractors of Utah’s Platinum Level Safety Award. “It is very impressive that Hunt Electric has hit the two million man-hours without a single lost-time injury,” says Joey Gilbert, vice president of AGC of Utah.

“The Platinum Safety Award is the highest level of award given by the AGC, honoring construction firms who are 25% below the combined averages of the OSHA Total Recordable and Lost Time Incidence Rates, and the average (1.0) EMR. The fact that Hunt Electric has maintained this level of safety points to the fact that they are doing something right. They are a great example of safety in the Intermountain area.”
