CALIFORNIA Cox Construction Co. was awarded a $13.4-million firm-fixed-price contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to build a general instruction building at the Presidio, Monterey. The building includes classrooms, offices, storage, a test-control area, multipurpose training areas and curriculum-resource areas. Work is expected to be completed by May 2009. CALIFORNIA Granite Construction Inc. has been awarded a $24-million contract by the California Dept. of Transportation for the reconstruction of 13 miles of Highway 101. The project entails milling and repaving the northbound and southbound lanes between Silicon Valley Road and the Guadalupe River Bridge in Santa Clara County, near San Jose. The project is scheduled to begin in May 2010 and be completed by August 2010. This project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
