Morgan Stinson was promoted to principal from senior project manager at EEA Consulting Engineers. In his new role, he will supervise project leaders. Stinson was among those cited by ENR Texas & Louisiana in its 2013 Top 20 Under 40 list.

The Baton Rouge-based Louisiana chapter of the Associated General Contractors has named its 2013 slate of officers. George Wilson Jr., president and CEO of Barriere Construction Co. LLC, Metairie, was installed as president. David Huval Jr., an executive of C.E.C. Inc., Lafayette, was elected senior vice president. Steve Hackworth, with D&J Construction Co. Inc., Monroe, is vice president. Vic Weston, with Tri-State Road Boring Inc., Baton Rouge, is now treasurer, and Kelly Commander, with Command Construction Industries, Metairie, becomes the group's immediate past president.

William F. Guyton, 95, a pioneer in groundwater hydrology study who founded one of the field's first consultants, died on March 2 in Austin, Texas. He was among the first employees in the U.S. Geological Survey's groundwater branch in 1939 and founded, in 1951, William F. Guyton Associates, Austin, known for expertise in deep-well technology and large-scale water supply development. It was acquired by consultant Leggette, Brashears & Graham in 1992 and now operates as LBG-Guyton Associates. Guyton was a past president of the Austin chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Stephen P. Byrne, 59, a construction executive and educator who pushed contractor certification and helped shape the construction science department at Texas A&M University, died on Feb. 11 from surgery complications, the school said. Byrne, a senior lecturer since 2000, also was executive director of Texas A&M's Construction Industry Advisory Council. He had been the school's associate executive director of facilities, planning and construction. Byrne was a fellow of the American Institute of Constructors and a past president.

Kendall, 70, was president at his death. He co-founded the 55-employee firm in 1978 with James E. Heaton, who died in 1993. The firm was chosen in 1988 as associate architect for a $16-million Rice University concert hall, the first major U.S. project for Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill. Kendall was an American Institute of Architects Fellow and a board member of its Houston chapter.
