Inspired by the city of Hong Kong, HK Central is a sleek, sophisticated Chinese restaurant. Traditional and modern Chinese design elements are combined to create a dynamic space that captures the energy and excitement of this vibrant city.
HIT Entertainment - 230 Park Avenue South; New York, NY
Barney the Dinosaur, Thomas the Tank Engine, Angelina Ballerina and Bob the Builder are just a few of the successful characters that share space with HIT’s 91 employees.
Upon seeking additional space for the expanding company, Spector Group architects and HIT sought to adopt a more culturally democratic office atmosphere, eliminating the original planned office/workstation configuration and replacing it with a totally open office environment.

•Inspirational existing space: L-shaped floor plan sliced in two by magnificent brick wall which was the exterior wall for the smaller, original turn of the century building expanded years ago
•Exposed steel framing and raw, aged terracotta columns inspired juxtaposing ‘old’ with ‘new’
•Etched glass and dichroic laminate glass used in conjunction with clear glass as random ‘curtains’ of color for the more ‘private spaces’ . White painted walls throughout.
•Free standing resin panels accentuate and delineate a space while still retaining open environment throughout.
•Main work area washed with directional carpet tiles with a colorway that is almost completely derived from colors of brick.

Whispering Hills
Situated on 78 acres, the residential project is ideally located on Rose Hill Road, between Barnegat Avenue and Route 9, in Barnegat. When completed, the Whispering Hills development will comprise 107 townhouses, 99 single-family homes, and 52 rental apartments. The entire 258-unit development will be Silver LEED-certified.

The concert hall is wrapped inside a “hull” of curved cedar planks, which hovers inside a glass exterior enclosure. The hull provides a practical and elegant enclosure for the extensive mechanical duct spaces and circulation corridors around the concert hall and serves as a structural component which supports the roof.

Precisely tailored to its complex program, EMPAC houses a 1,200-seat concert hall, a 400-seat theatre with a full fly tower, two adaptive environment studios – Studio 1 and Studio 2, an audio and video production suite, artists-in-residence studios, a campus radio station and a dance studio.

Croton Water Treatment Plant
The Croton Filter Plant, located underneath the Mosholu Golf Course in the Bronx, is a $1.4 billion project. The plant is will be built on a 12-acre site and treat 290 million gallons of water per day from the Croton Reservoir. The Multibar Caissons prefabricated and supplied by SAS Stressteel, Inc. were brought in at lengths up to 120'. The caissons consisted of (16) #20 Grade 80 SAS Stressteel Thread Bars. The completed product has a working load capacity of approx. 1,664 tons for each caisson. In order to keep with the project schedule, SAS Stressteel's production rate was one caisson per day and delivered to site by day two.

Wrapped in transparent glass veil, the 50-foot tall Birch trees and the undulating carpet of sedges and ferns register an artful contrasting sculptural relief to the level plane of the floating garden path and the lobby’s White Oak floor.

LED Signage Contract Awarded to Brasfield & Gorrie
Buffalo, New York --- Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC, was recently awarded the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Light Emitting Diode (LED) Signage project in Buffalo and Lewiston, New York.
The $2 million project contract will include the installation of high-visibility, energy-efficient LED signs at the Lewiston Land Port of Entry, which is the northernmost border crossing in the Buffalo area. Additionally, new high-visibility, energy-efficient signs will be installed at the Peace Bridge facility, which connects downtown Buffalo to Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada.
The work is expected to begin this month and will complete in October of this year.
The LED signage upgrades offer easy-to-see and read bilingual signage that can be changed instantly as traffic dictates. Valuable instructions and information are provided to travelers as they approach the primary inspection stations, saving up to 20 seconds per vehicle transitioning through the port. This state-of-the-art technology is increasingly popular among Customs and Border Protection officials since the technology increases the functionality, energy efficiency, and overall safety of port operations. Many of the nation’s busiest land ports of entry are installing LED signage because of its added value.
This is the second land port of entry LED signage contract awarded to Brasfield & Gorrie. The first contract added LED signs at four land ports of entry located between McAllen and Brownsville, Texas. That work was completed in July 2011.
Brasfield & Gorrie is partnering with the U.S. General Services Administration and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to complete the project.
