IBT, a global construction group with headquarters in Miami and offices in Latin America and the Caribbean, is helping to replant a tropic rain forest in the Dominican Republic as part of the nation’s ongoing reforestation efforts.IBT employees helped to dig holes, plant, and tamp in 1,500 western pine and cypress trees, golden penta, and guázara seedlings. A cumulative 65,000 seedlings have been planted in the 16-square-mile reserve since it was created in 1996 for soil and water conservation.

The foundation’s donation will be used to support the expansion of the non-profit’s culinary program. Arc Culinary provides hands-on training opportunities for students with disabilities and other life challenges. The program also provides catering services and reinvests the revenue to support the entry-level culinary arts certificate and job placement services.

Jose and Delsy Ferrer cut the ribbon to their newly rebuilt home on May 18. In February 2019, the Ferrer family’s house was destroyed in a fire, just months after the couple had finished paying off the mortgage. A community coalition headed by Broward County Commissioner Mark Bogen, The Florida Panthers, and Moss Construction came together and raised $50,000 to rebuild the Ferrer’s house. "We are proud to have been part of this great collaboration,” said Scott Moss, CEO of Moss Construction.

The Moss Foundation hosted its 6th annual charitable golf tournament, the Plumb Bob Classic, at the Trump National Doral Golf Club on Dec. 6. The golf tournament raised $275,000 for Florida nonprofits. At the event, the Moss Foundation presented eight non-profit organizations with contributions totaling $185,000. The Moss Foundation hosted its 6th annual charitable golf tournament, the Plumb Bob Classic, at the Trump National Doral Golf Club on Dec. 6. The golf tournament attracted more than 272 golfers who played on two separate courses, and raised $275,000 for Florida nonprofits. At the event, Chad Moss of the Moss Foundation presented eight non-profit organizations with contributions totaling $185,000. The remaining funds that were raised will be donated to several charities throughout 2020.

Orlando-based Comprehensive Energy Services, Inc.’s 13th Annual Charity Golf Tournament raised a record-breaking $50,000 which for the sixth consecutive year benefited AdventHealth Altamonte. Held on October 14 at Heathrow Country Club, CES’s charitable tournaments have raised $370,000. “Life-changing events decades ago shaped our family’s lifelong philanthropy in support of AdventHealth Altamonte and other causes,” said Shelly Morgan, who along with her husband, Todd, co-founded CES in 1992.

The Moss Foundation, with support and contributions from employees, subcontractors, and vendors of Moss Construction, collected $47,670 worth of school supplies for their 14th annual “Back to School Drive.” The supplies were delivered to 18 Title I schools and organizations in South Florida. In addition, across the country Moss Construction offices joined in the efforts which resulted in Title I schools and organizations in Hawaii, California, Texas, Tampa and Orlando also receiving donations.

Judith Rodriguez, human resources manager at IBT of Miami, plants a tree in the Dominion Republic in a joint effort to help the country with reforestation. IBT, a global construction group headquartered in Miami with offices in Latin America and the Caribbean, helped to plant 2,000 trees. IBT employees spent a day in the mountainous Constanza township region to help plant 2,000 pine, juniper and palm trees at a collaborative tree planting project within the Scientific Reserve Las Neblinas.

Orlando-based Williams Company Building Division participated in the January 18th Dedication and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for the $27 million Carlton Union Building at Stetson University in DeLand, Fla. In a January 26th Stetson University TODAY article titled “Worth the Wait”, Williams CEO Bob Lipscomb stated, “Workers literally rebuilt the building from the inside. Along the way, they added about 40,000 square feet of space and managed to complete the work while the building remained in use.”

In Nashville, Skanska USA recently gifted the Goodwill Construction Training Program a 56-inch-tall, 23-drawer industrial tool chest that will provide storage space as well as learning opportunities for the classroom participants.
The Goodwill Construction Training Program covers safety, construction math, hand and power tools, blueprints, rigging, and job search assistance. Since the program began in 2012, 436 students have graduated.

IBT of Miami delivered aid to thousands of families stranded by falling rock and mudslides after recordbreaking rainfall recently in a region of Bolivia where the global construction company is building a highway. Since last year, IBT has been working in the Chaco region of Bolivia, one of the areas most affected by the heavy rains, to build the highway that joins the towns of Entre Ríos and Palos Blancos. The $80 million infrastructure project is planned for completion this year.

On Jan. 19, Moss celebrated the topping out of Auberge Beach Residences & Spa Fort Lauderdale. The two-tower luxury development, located at 2200 N. Ocean Boulevard, is being developed by The Related Group, Fortune International Group and The Fairwinds Group. The North Tower, which is 97 percent sold, is expected to complete in Spring 2018, while The South Tower, which is 70 percent sold, has a projected completion date in Summer 2018.

On Jan. 10, Moss celebrated the groundbreaking of the $80 million Icon Central mixed-used development in downtown St. Petersburg. The upscale multifamily highrise is being developed by Miami-based The Related Group and will include 368 residential units as well a total renovation of the 1926 Union Trust Bank building. Completion is slated for mid 2019, with units ranging from 542 to 1,470 square feet. The tower will also include 19,000 square feet of street-level retail.

A total of 41 grants will be presented throughout the Panthers 2017-18 hockey season. The most recent $25,000 grant was awarded on Oct. 20 to HANDY, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children and young adults who have been removed from their homes because of domestic violence, substance abuse, physical abuse and abandonment.

Gilbane Building Company and the Norton Museum of Art held a topping out ceremony to celebrate the placement of the final beam over 54 feet above the future main entrance where a large canopy will be attached later. Two cranes lifted ten tons of metal, signed by construction workers, Norton Museum staff and others in attendance. The dramatic entrance is designed by Foster + Partners. More than 175 well wishers came to celebrate the construction milestone.

When complete, this $27 million project will cover 10 acres and accommodate 124 residents. Two single story buildings totaling 86,000 square feet will serve as senior living, a spa and wellness center, physical therapy, and memory care.
