The Delaware River Bridge will remain closed to traffic for at least eight more weeks while crews construct a permanent splice to reconnect a large vertical fracture in the 61-year-old symmetrical truss bridge.
The team temporarily stabilizing the Delaware River Bridge and planning its permanent repair also are trying to find a precedent for the bridge’s uncommon fracture.
The Delaware River Bridge was shutdown indefinitely over the weekend after a large fracture was discovered in the bridge connecting the Pennsylvania and New Jersey turnpikes.
