A big aspect of social media is sharing photos. ENR picked up on that trend seven years ago when we launched our popular annual photo contest. The 2009 competition now is open. Click here  for the full rules, entry forms and to submit your photos.

Each year, the contest has become more and more digital. Last year, we successfully switched to an all-digital entry process. You may enter as many photos as you like—but all must be submitted online.

The contest captures the past year in construction through the photos taken by individuals and firms, amateurs and pros, anywhere in the world between Nov. 8, 2008, and Nov. 6, 2009. The judges will look for dynamic, well-composed, dramatic and aesthetically pleasing pictures of people working safely in the construction world. Readers have told us definitively that safety is important to them in photography, just as it is on-site, so a safety expert joins our panel of judges who will select the winners. Winning photos will be presented in ENR’s Jan. 4, 2010, print issue. The judges’ picks also will be featured in an online winners gallery.

One of the 2008 winners Chris Lamon had the ENR Photo Contest in mind when he took this shot.

In addition, every qualifying entry will be posted in our Reader Photos gallery as they are received and processed. Viewers can share and recommend their favorites. The most-recommended photos also will be displayed in a collection of readers’ favorites as yet another way to admire the great photos of The Year in Construction, 2009. Entry deadline is Nov. 6, 2009.
