Product Snapshot: Rotating Pipelayer and Slipform Paver
The Volvo PL4809D Rotating Pipelayer has a lifting capacity of 90 tons and a 360� swing capability. Unlike side-boom pipelayers, the PL4809D can lay large pipes anywhere around the machine. The excavator-style pipelayer also can be converted to a fully functional excavator with the optional excavator boom. The machine's hydraulics have been optimized for both tasks. The pipelayer is able to work in rough terrain on inclines of up to 30�. A retractable undercarriage allows for the PL4809D to be transported on roads.

The Milwaukee Laser Distance Meter is available in two models, the 2281-20 and the 2282-20, with maximum ranges of 200 ft and 260 ft, respectively. Both feature backlit LCD screens and a 1/16-in. measurement accuracy. Standard features include calculation of distances through indirect measurements. The 2282-20 model has several extra features, including an inclination function and more onboard memory for storing distance measurements.

The Gehl Z45 GEN:2 Compact Excavator is powered by a 37.7-hp Yanmar Tier 4 diesel engine. It has a maximum digging depth of 11 ft, 7 in., and a bucket breakout force of 6,497 lb. Able to accept a wide range of attachments, the excavator features a re- designed auxiliary hydraulic control switch to adjust hydraulic flow as needed. Operator controls can be switched from a standard ISO mode to an optional backhoe control pattern. Cab improvements include a four-way adjustable seat and an optional cab enclosure.

The GP-2400 Slipform Paver features a V2 variable-width mold, allowing it to adjust its paving width for tapered slabs. The paver has a maximum working width of 24 ft; the variable-width mold and a telescoping rolling frame allows it to make width transitions of up to 6 ft, 6 in. It is powered by a 174.5-hp Caterpillar diesel engine and boasts two-speed track motors: The two-track model has a travel speed of up to 105 ft per minute, while the four-track model has a travel speed of up to 96 ft per minute. The paver uses the G+ control system, which is compatible with 3D stringless paving systems, laser controls and multiple sensor setups.
