Developer Delfin Midstream LNG said that it expects to reach a final investment decision this fall on its planned floating liquefied natural gas export terminal in the Gulf of Mexico after reaching an “early works” design specifications agreement with contractors Samsung Heavy Industries and Black & Veatch under their lump-sum EPCI contract.
Located 40 miles off Cameron Parish, La., it would have four trains and be the first such offshore facility in the U.S., set to produce up to 13.2 million metric tons of LNG annually, Delfin said.
The firm did not disclose the project’s cost. Previous estimates cited a total of $9.5 billion for construction of the terminal and floating port.
Siemens Energy will manufacture gas turbines for the project, which has already received two federal agency licenses. ■
