1200 Peachtree is keeping history alive with renovations to the 55,000 sq-ft Promenade Central tower in Midtown Atlanta, transforming the lobby with intricate Italian large-format tiles, custom metal elements and commissioned art pieces to tell the building’s story.

The team revitalizing the former AT&T long lines building and former Norfolk Southern headquarters installed hardscapes and a landscape package that feature outdoor seating, a putting green and bike storage for commuters.

HITT Contracting of Atlanta used the building’s original hand-drawn as-builts as the only reference point for the $33-million project, overcoming complications that arose when the shop drawings and material procurement were released before the completion of demolition.

HITT faced multiple challenges that were successfully overcome through communication and advance planning to complete the project on time and within budget, including the early delivery of the canopy, ground floor lobby, elevator lobby, rear entrance and reception.
