Arizona Pivotal Group is planning to develop the Central Park mixed-use development in Phoenix. The 2.3-million-sq-ft project will be situated on 18 acres of undeveloped land at 4141 N. Third St. It will include six towers, ranging in height from 165 ft to 355 ft, and will have office, hotel, residential, senior living and retail space. The project proposes two commercial office towers with 760,000 sq ft of commercial office space, 170,000 sq ft of retail and restaurant space, a movie theater and a 200-room, 185-ft-tall hotel. It will also include two 355-ft residential towers, which will total 400 apartment and condominium units. A 165-ft tower is proposed with 200 units of senior housing. The main courtyard will feature an outdoor amphitheater that can accommodate about 1,000 people. It is being designed by Gensler. The project is valued at $300 million. Louisiana The Louisiana Coastal Protection & Restoration Authority is planning to carry out the Terrebonne Basin Ridge and Marsh Creation project, a ridge restoration and marsh creation project in western Terrebonne Parish. It involves restoring 126 acres of earthen ridge, and a marsh creation component that will dredge sediment from offshore to create 1,370 acres of marsh. This will rebuild ridge and intertidal marsh habitat that has degraded due, in part, to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The project has been designed by HDR Engineering Inc. Nebraska The University of Nebraska is planning to carry out an addition to the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in Omaha. The project will renovate space that was vacated when Oral Maxillofacial Surgery moved to the new Lauritzen Outpatient Center. The renovation will include updates to the facility to support accessibility for patients with compromised mobility and complex medical conditions. In addition to expanding to 15 operatories, the project also will include sterilization, lab, waiting and support spaces. The project is valued at $50 million. New York/Pennsylvania National Fuel Gas Co. and Empire Pipeline are planning to construct the Northern Access Natural Gas Pipeline. The 96.5-
mile-long, 24-in.-dia pipeline will carry gas from McKean County, Penn., to the Porterville Compressor Station in Elma, N.Y. The project also entails installing 5,350 hp of compression at the Porterville Station. Empire Pipeline will construct a 22,214-hp compressor station in Pendleton, N.Y., and a 2-mile-long, 16-in./24-in.-dia pipeline. The project is valued at $500 million. Tennessee Eastman Chemical Co. is planning to construct a plastic recycling facility in Kingsport. The facility will convert polyester waste into durable products through methanolysis. Virginia 4/30 The Virginia Port Authority is seeking bidders to carry out an expansion of the Central Railyard in Norfolk. The work involves constructing a pair of four-track railroad yards (referred to as bundles) with gantry crane rails. Rail leads (with at-grade crossings for surface traffic within the terminal) to both the north and south will be constructed to connect the rail bundles to the existing tracks located along Railroad Avenue within the terminal. Between the two bundles, a paved working aisle will be constructed for the staging and transfer of chassis-mounted containers to and from rail cars. The project is valued at $22 million.
