This 55,000-sq-ft facility hosts 36 private inpatient rooms and inpatient and outpatient specialized support facilities designed after extensive benchmarking studies, tours of other facilities and academic peer reviews. The result is a flexible facility focused around modular patient-care suites, with dispersed ancillary nursing stations. While creating a new design, the team adhered to strict OSHPD and California Fire Marshal regulations, including a difficult anti-ligature requirement. Meeting these requirements led to the development of a custom modular encasement for bathroom fixtures, patient rooms with custom doors that can be removed in less than a minute, anti-shatter windows and tamper-proof screws and fasteners.
