Arizona El Dorado Holdings is planning to build Villages at Vigneto, a 12,500-acre master-planned community along State Route 90 near Benson, in Cochise County. Iowa Central Iowa Shelter & Services is planning to construct a 24-unit apartment building out of shipping containers to provide permanent, affordable housing to chronically homeless people. Located at 1420 Mulberry St. in Des Moines, it will be built on stilts to allow water to gather below if the retention basin fills up during a flood. FEH Design has been chosen as the architect. Massachusetts Under a consent decree with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, four potentially responsible parties—U.S. Army, U.S. Dept. of Energy, Textron Inc. and Whittaker Corp.—plan to carry out a cleanup of the Starmet/Nuclear Metals Superfund site in Concord. The 46-acre site is contaminated with depleted uranium, copper and nitric acid, which were disposed into an unlined holding basin at the site from 1958 to 1985. The work includes excavation and off-site disposal of 82,500 cu yd of contaminated soil, sediment and debris; stabilization of depleted uranium contaminated soil; extraction and treatment of groundwater for volatile organic compounds and 1,4-dioxane; treatment of depleted uranium and natural uranium in groundwater; and long-term monitoring and land use controls. Michigan Inner City Christian Federation, a nonprofit housing developer, is planning to convert the former Grand Rapids Christian High School building, at 415 Franklin St. SE. The three-story, 70,000-sq-ft building will contain ICCF’s headquarters, worship space for Madison Church: Ford Campus, an early childhood education center and 41 apartments. Oklahoma Tulsa Children’s Museum is expected to build the Tulsa Children’s Museum Discovery Lab, at 2650 S. John Williams Way East. The 50,000-sq-ft facility will have an outdoor amphitheater, a green rooftop terrace, and a second floor filled with classrooms that will house the Tulsa Public Schools’ STEM center. Goodson Construction Co. to carry out a dike improvement project at the Savannah Harbor Dredge Material Containment Area in Ridgeland. The project entails raising the crest elevation of the perimeter dike by 6 ft, clearing the interior and adding a 2-ft-thick sand cap to the existing bird island in the western portion of the DMCA. Also included are repairs and modifications to the five existing weir and water control structures along the western dike, clearing and grubbing of an area along the DMCA exterior, and replacing the main entrance gate.
