Quality control is of paramount importance in the drug manufacturing business. A number of times within the past decade the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued warnings to Lupin Ltd. for violating current good manufacturing practice regulations at the company’s plants in India. Lupin voluntarily recalled drugs from the market while it addressed and corrected the deficiencies.

For its new Oral Solid Dosage facility in Nagpur, the firm gave top priority to QA/QC. Using modular building systems and life cycle, quality control and team organization strategies, the team delivered a sustainable and technically complex large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing facility that came in within budget and on schedule.

Dedicated air handling units were designed with operational safety requirements for filtration, monitoring and temperature control to avoid condensation and prevent any bacterial growth. This sustainable project provides a template for how projects can be designed and constructed to compete globally.
