Danish offshore wind leader Orsted and Eversource have agreed to a 50-50 partnership for key offshore wind assets in the Northeast. The Feb. 8 Eversource announcement states the utility is paying $225 million for half of Orsted’s 700-MW Revolution Wind and 130-MW South Fork Wind projects, and for the 257-square-mile tract off the coasts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, assets Orsted acquired when it bought Deepwater Wind in November. This advances the companies’ Bay State Wind partnership, a 50-50 collaboration on a separate 300-square-mile ocean tract adjacent to Deepwater Wind. Eversource has also completed 17 solar projects in Massachusetts with two more expected to go online later this year.
