Colorado The Municipal Subdistrict of the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District is planning to construct the Chimney Hollow Reservoir Project. The project includes a new 350-ft-tall hydraulic asphalt core rockfill dam that will impound 90,000 acre ft of water, a 36-ft-tall clay core saddle dam, an inlet/outlet tunnel, spillway and approximately 7,000 ft of 72-in.-dia conveyance piping connecting the new reservoir into the existing Colorado-Big Thompson project. This will be the second asphalt core dam constructed in the U.S. Stantec has been selected as the design engineer and Black & Veatch has been selected as the construction manager. Contractor procurement is expected in 2019. The estimated construction cost is $420 million. Georgia The City of Savannah is planning to construct a 269,000-sq-ft indoor arena containing 9,000 seats, 12 luxury suites and 3,000 parking spaces. It is being designed by Perkins & Will Architects Inc. Proposals from construction management-at-risk firms are under review and the winning firm is expected to be chosen soon. Massachusetts Charles Patsios is planning to develop the Lynn Gear Works mixed-use project on a 65.5-acre brownfield site in Lynn that was formerly a General Electric plant. The 1.5-million-sq-ft, five-phase development will include six buildings between six and 20 stories tall containing 1,250 residential units, a sports club, pool house, clubhouse, two above-ground parking garages with a total of 2,080 parking spaces, and 7,800 sq ft of ground floor retail. In addition, the Riverworks commuter rail station, currently only open to GE employees, will be upgraded and opened to the public. The new station will feature two 783-ft-long accessible station platforms as well as an 80-car parking lot. The project is being designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects Ltd., and Meninno Construction has been chosen as the general contractor. The project is valued at $400 million. Missouri Hudson Holdings is planning to redevelop the 1.2-million-sq-ft Railway Exchange Building at 615 Olive St. in St. Louis. Erected in 1913, the 21-story building originally contained the Famous-Barr Co., the country’s first air-conditioned department store. North Dakota Oneok Partners Inc. is planning to construct the Demicks Lake Natural Gas Processing Plant 15 miles northeast of Watford City. The plant will process 200 million cu ft of natural gas per day, processing capacity that will accommodate increasing Williston Basin production. California 9/18 The Los Angeles County Sanitation District is seeking bidders to construct the Joint Water Pollution Control Plant effluent outfall tunnel in Carson. The work consists of constructing approximately 36,750 ft of 18-ft-dia precast concrete segmental lining tunnel, a 14-ft-dia connecting pipe, an approximately 60-ft-dia tunnel shaft, a junction structure, manifold structure and two valve structures, and all appurtenant work.
