Methanol Holdings (Trinidad) Ltd. is planning to build the Big Lakes Fuel Natural Gas to Gasoline facility in Lake Charles. The facility will use natural gas to produce methanol, and then convert the methanol to gasoline using steam reforming and methanol synthesis technologies to produce 12,500 barrels per day of 87-octane gasoline. The facility has been designed by G2X Energy, and Proman AG has been selected as the general contractor. Construction is expected to begin in February. The project is valued at $1.2 billion.
