eplacing the collapsed Interstate 35W bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, Minn., continues at a fast pace. By mid-February, all 12 piers for the new concrete segmental bridge were above ground, with one already reaching its full height of 70 ft, says a spokesperson for the joint venture of Flatiron and Manson, which directing the $234-million design-build project. Crews completed drilling the last of the bridge’s approach foundations on Feb. 13 and will pour concrete into the footings on Feb. 25. The new bridge will have a 504-ft-long main span and an overall length of 1,223 ft from abutment to abutment.
