New rating tool from a company that focuses on improving quality control for general contractors is designed to track and rate the performance of sub-contractors from one job to the next.

SubTrack is a report-card generator of sorts. It gathers performance data entered by supervisors on subs in terms of production, meeting schedules, safety compliance and paperwork delivery. It computes a reliability grade to guide general contractors when inviting bidders and building teams for future projects. The standards can be customized.

SubTrack is part of a suite of management tools called PRM 2 from Redwood City, Calif.-based BuildPoint Corp. The system is directed toward provider relationship management through sharing, analysis and re-use of subcontractor data. Other tools of the package deal with pre-qualification and bid management. BuildPoint’s investors include The McGraw-Hill Companies, parent company of ENR.
