Architects Chosen For Cultural Complex at WTC 10/18/2004
October 18, 2004
The Lower Manhattan Development Corp. has announced the selection of Los Angeles-based Gehry Partners and Oslo, Norways Snøhetta as architects for the cultural complex on the World Trade Center site. The firms immediately will begin the schematic design on the two buildings, says LMDC. Schematic design is expected to be completed in early 2005. Gehry will design the performing arts complex while Snøhetta will design the museum complex. LMDC originally had received 68 proposals from firms around the globe. The individual cultural institutions made the final selections, from a short list announced last month.
