CSHQA’s Yoni Melchert earns license to practice architecture in Washington; Spectrum’s Scott Jenkins honored by national engineering publication.

Salt Lake-based Stanley Consultants engineers Ahmad Salah, and Jeff Masters received a first place award for a presentation, which was deemed the ‘Best Embedded GIS Application’, at an international GIS conference. Their winning presentation was entitled “Infrastructure Needs Assessment for Land Use Planning in Salt Lake County, Utah.”

The team presented in the User Software Application Fair during the 2009 ESRI Annual International User Conference held in San Diego, CA. Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) international user conference is considered the largest annual GIS user conference in the world and hosts about 15,000 attendees each year.

Stanley Consultants’ Salt Lake City office opened in 1996.

Stanley also announced that Scott Wonders has been promoted to Land Development business leader at Stanley Consultants’ Idaho office. Land Development Business supports the company’s strategic focus to become a nationally recognized land development services firm providing expertise in all aspects of the land development business.

Wonders, who joined the company in 2002, manages the local office in Meridian. He has a civil engineering degree from Penn State University, and is a licensed professional engineer in Idaho, Nevada, Texas and Utah. He is a member of the Building Contractors of America (BCA), the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), and the Eagle Chamber of Commerce.

Salt Lake-based Spectrum Engineers announced that two of its associate engineers have become professional engineers and are now licensed to practice engineering in the State of Utah, bringing the firm’s total number of PE’s to 26.

Scott E. Jenkins joined Spectrum as an intern electrical engineer in 2003 and was made an associate electrical engineer in 2005. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and specializes in the design of electrical systems for complex healthcare, laboratory and other project types.

Associate electrical engineer Ralph B. Koeber has been with Spectrum since 2005 and is also a LEED AP. His experience includes electrical engineering design of government, commercial, hospitality and educational projects. He is a licensed master electrician with 13 years of hands-on installation experience.

Salt Lake-based Dunn Associates, Inc. announced some key recent personnel activity.

Russell Merrill earned his Structural Engineer designation, which required additional exams and testing. Merrill is known for his expertise in concrete structural design.

Brandt Saxey recently completed all requirements for his professional engineer license in Utah. He is a graduate of the University of Utah with a Master’s in Civil Engineering.

Curtis Earl has passed his professional engineering exams for structures. Earl is a graduate of Utah State University and has a Master’s in Civil Engineering with emphasis on structures in the area of seismic mitigation. He has worked on such projects as the Falcon Hill National Aerospace Research Park. He is also a LEED AP.

David Dunn took the more stringent California Professional Engineering structural exams, which will grant reciprocity back to Utah for his professional engineer license. Dunn’s most recent projects include the Utah Museum of Natural History.

Dunn Associates also announced that David Dunn, Frank Potter, Russell Merrill, Kyle Mulliken, and Amy McCall have recently passed the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Accredited Professional exam. These individuals join Dunn Associates’ six other LEED APs for a total of eleven of the firm’s 19 engineers that have achieved this national accreditation. It is worthy to note that Amy Taylor is the state’s first female structural engineer to achieve this distinction.
