The 3,000-tonne framework of the wave-shaped roof over the London 2010 Olympics Games’s Aquatics Centre has been lowered onto its final bearings. Erection of the 160-m by 90-m roof began last March next to the main stadium at the Olympic Park on temporary supports, which have now been removed. Lead contractor Balfour Beatty Construction Ltd. is due to complete the center, designed by architect Zaha Hadid, next year.
