In response to concerns from some engineers and state engineering licensing boards, the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, Clemson, S.C., has issued an analysis of educational, economic, professional and regulatory impacts of proposed new education requirements before licensure (see www.ncees.org). The 14-page analysis notes possible impacts such as undergraduate education reform, choice of engineering as a career, jurisdictional issues, cost and salaries. It also analyzes alternatives to the requirements.
