Lesley Thomas, deputy manager of Denver Public Works, and City Engineer George Delaney, manager of Denver Public Works, celebrated the September topping out of Denvers new 60,000-sq-ft Police Crime Laboratory, located on 14th Avenue between Cherokee and Delaware streets. The $36-million facility will replace the citys existing 14,000-sq-ft lab, currently housed in the Police Administration Building, and allows the Denver Crime Laboratory Bureau to consolidate its services under one roof. Last year, Denvers crime lab handled more than 10,000 cases. The building was designed to allow for flexibility as the laboratorys needs evolve. The architectural team of Durrant and SmithGroup, both of Denver, designed the new lab, which is being built by Denvers JE Dunn Construction.
