Nick Cloud of McCarthy Building Cos. was awarded the 2010 CEA Leadership in Safety Award in recognition for his many contributions to work place safety.

Cloud has been the driving force behind safety at his company for over 13 years. He has worked tirelessly to create a culture that emphasizes prevention and training. Under his leadership, McCarthys Northern Pacific Division has achieved a record of over two years without a recordable injury and an unprecedented zero lost time record that is now approaching seven years. He was integral in McCarthys acceptance into and participation in the elite Cal/OSHA VPP Recognition Program. Clouds contributions to work place safety extend well beyond his company, as evidenced by the many letters of support from representatives across the construction community. In addition to performing his responsibilities as McCarthys Northern Pacific Division Safety Director, Cloud finds time to provide field experience in construction to Cal/OSHA personnel, mentor contractors who are seeking to achieve recognition through a Cal/OSHA partnership program, be an active safety council member with the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange and be instrumental in the Annual Statewide Safety Expos success for the past seven years. In addition, Cloud has been a guest presenter for the CEA Safety Forum Program.
