Washington, D.C.,-based developer Akridge is in charge of the mixed-use project to be built over the tracks. Company Chairman Chip Akridge said the project would be "a new urban neighborhood." It will be called Burham Place, named for Daniel Burnham, who designed Union Station more than a century ago.

Akridge bought the air rights over the rail yard in 2006. Shalom Baranes Associates, Washington, is the architect for Burnham Place.
