Product Snapshot: Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and Crawler Dozer
Tier 4 Final Crawler Dozer:
Turbocharger Helps To Keep Filter Clean
The D61-24 Crawler Dozer is powered by a 6.80-liter, 168-hp diesel engine that meets Tier 4 Final emissions standards via a diesel-particulate filter. The engine employs a Komatsu variable-geometry turbocharger, which maintains a high level of passive regeneration, reducing time lost on cleaning out the exhaust filter. Operators can choose between a quick-shift, three-speed mode or a variable 20-speed, customizable transmission mode as needed. Komatsu America Corp.; www.komatsuamerica.com
Surveying and Mapping Capabilities
Topcon Positioning Group has added a rotary-wing model to its line of unmanned aerial vehicles. The Falcon 8 is available in two models. The GeoEXPERT UAV features an HD RBG camera and is intended for surveying and modeling applications. For industrial and infrastructure inspections, the InspectionPRO UAV features the same camera as well as an infrared-sensor package. The data gathered by the UAV can be geo-tagged and imported into Topcon’s desktop surveying software for use in photogrammetry and other applications. Portable Miter Saws:
Integrated Dust Extraction
The GCM 8 SDE and GCM 12 SDE Professional Miter Saws feature variable torque settings, granting them the flexibility to cut a wide range of construction materials. At 41 lb, the GCM 8 SDE is portable enough to move around the jobsite as needed, while the GCM 12 SDE boasts an improved cutting capacity. Both models come with an integrated dust-extraction system, which consists of two vacuum units—mounted on the table and behind the saw blade—to provide near-full containment.
Horizontal Directional Drill:
Designed for Long Installations
The D60x90 S3 Navigator, a horizontal directional drill (HDD), is capable of 60,000 lb of thrust and pullback and can generate 9,000 ft-lb of rotational torque. With this capability, the HDD rig can install long runs of fiber-optic cables, gas-distribution lines, smaller-diameter pipeline crossings and water lines. Coupled with the rig’s relatively small footprint, it also can be used to perform long-run installations in crowded urban sites where surface access is limited. Vermeer; www.vermeer.com
