Llewelyn-Davies Sahni Leads HISD Renovations, HCC Bioretention Ponds
Houston-based Llewelyn-Davies Sahni will lead renovation projects at two Houston ISD elementary campuses: Herrera Elementary and Burris Elementary in Houston. Both projects are part of HISD’s $1.045-billion Facilities Capital Program. Both will be completed in the fall. The total cost is estimated at $4.5 million
The firm is also directing the design and implementation of a system of bioretention ponds at Houston Community College’s Southeast Felix Fraga Campus. LDS’s design of the bioretention system consists of six ponds around the HCC Drennan campus. The ponds fulfill the city’s requirements and serve to naturally filter and clean runoff stormwater onsite before entering the city’s drainage system. In designing the Drennan campus system, the LDS team focused on the aesthetic quality of the ponds working with a landscape architect.
The system is part of a $30-million, 10-acre new campus planned to accommodate two HCC buildings and an HISD Early College facility. All infrastructure upgrades and the campus plan are being designed and overseen by LDS.
