EPA published new RCRA requirements on November 28, 2016 to make substantial changes to the first enacted rule of 1981. The initial rule may cause confusion but EPA’s intent is to update the regulations so it is easier for generators to understand and implement. Two key provisions brought up in this new regulation are: allowing for episodic events to be managed under the same generator status as long as they are properly managed, as well as allowing very small quantity generator (VSQG) to transport hazardous waste to a large quantity generator as long as it’s under the control of the same person.
