Two new editorial products from Engineering News-Record are launching this week: ENR Mobile News now can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store and Google Play, and Contractor Business Quarterly will appear in the July 23 issue.

The free app offers regular downloads of construction news from ENR.com presented in a format that is easy to read on smartphones and tablets.  The app offers both national and regional news, photos and videos. Also, users will be able to connect to Twitter directly from the app and participate in industry polls. For marketers, the app supports advertising, and we are pleased to welcome our launch sponsor CMIC, one of the industry’s major providers of enterprise software solutions.

The app is available in both an IOS version and an Android version.

“ENR’s readers have been asking for an app to deliver ENR on a smartphone or tablet anywhere they go,” says Erin Joyce, ENR’s managing editor. Joyce, who joined ENR two years ago after working in technology publishing for many years, worked closely with technology developers and business leaders to craft the functionality and usability of the app. “We plan to deploy more of ENR’s content to mobile platforms in the near future,” Joyce adds.

Contractor Business Quarterly is an editorial print section and e-zine edited to provide deeper business intelligence for the contractor audience. It is distributed nationally to ENR’s full circulation. An e-zine version will be distributed via email blast.

CBQ Editor Mark Shaw, who is also the editor of ENR’s Mountain States regional edition and the Rocky Mountain bureau chief, has been writing about the construction industry for nearly 20 years. A consistent theme among the products he has launched for McGraw-Hill Construction is that the best contractors also are smart business people and good leaders.

“They must pay attention to everything, from technology and training to market trends and risk analysis,” Shaw says. “And that’s why we think the broad mix of business content in the new quarterly is a perfect fit for them. CBQ will cover the issues that they lose sleep over and provide a forum for industry leaders to share their thinking. It’s where they will come to brainstorm with each other.”
