ENR MidAtlantic is pleased to announce Alpha Corp. is the 2022 ENR MidAtlantic Design Firm of the Year. The firm will be recognized in the June print issue of ENR MidAtlantic.  

The Design Firm of the Year demonstrates success in the region from a growth and revenue standpoint as well as innovation, creativity and a commitment to giving back to its community. The last eight MidAtlantic winners include Herbert, Rowland & Grubic Inc. (HRG), Clark Nexsen, WSP, ECS Mid-Atlantic, KCI Technologies Inc., Whitman Requardt and Associates, Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson and Pennoni Associates.  

Alpha Corp., one of few woman-owned businesses in the industry, experienced growth of nearly 25% in its civil and structural engineering departments during 2021. The 42-year-old firm is currently working on the largest project in Virginia—the $3.8 billion Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel Expansion in Norfolk and Hampton, Va. The firm is also supporting a $600 million new surgery and radiology building for the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md. The firm also recently completed work on the Burnside Bridge project at Antietam National Battlefield.

Alpha Corp. also gives back to the community. The firm sponsors Lombardi Women, an organization committed to finding a cure for breast cancer by supporting Georgetown Lombardi’s Nina Hyde Center for Breast Cancer Research. Alpha has donated tens of thousands of dollars to this organization, which has raised nearly $4 million. The firm has also supported youth STEM programs, participated in local food drives, and supported local holiday gift drives. Most recently, the firm partnered with ARK365DMV to donate laptops to children in the Anacostia-AMP Outreach basketball team. The Anacostia-AMP Outreach & Empowerment Center is a collaborative community-based program that works with disadvantaged children and youth to increase literacy levels and promote personal development through the cultural arts.

Last year, Alpha Corp. ranked No. 118 on the ENR MidAtlantic Top Design Firm rankings with $3.23-million in regional revenue. The previous year, the firm ranked No. 224 with $2.47-million in regional revenue.
