Daane
Jeffrey Daane has been elevated to president and CEO of Western States Fire Protection Co., a fire-protection systems specialty contractor that is part of APi Group Inc., New Brighton, Minn. Formerly executive vice president, he succeeds Gene Postma, who becomes chief operating officer. Western States is a $200-million-per-year unit of APi, which ranks at No. 5 on ENR's list of the Top 600 Specialty Contractors and reports nearly $1.6 billion in 2012 revenue.

Walsh Construction Co., Portland, Ore., has named Matt Leeding as president. He was president of RDF Builders, a subsidiary, and now succeeds Bob Walsh, who has led the parent firm since 1961, it says. Walsh becomes chairman and also will manage the Walsh Foundation, its philanthropic arm. Leeding, a 33-year firm veteran, began as a construction laborer. Walsh Construction, a building contractor, ranks at No. 257 on ENR's list of The Top 400 Contractors, with $233 million in 2012 revenue. It is a separate company from The Walsh Group Ltd., Chicago.

Barge Waggoner Sumner and Cannon Inc., a Dayton, Ohio, professional-services firm, has promoted Vanessa Glotfelter to vice president. She also is Dayton office manager and president of the Dayton Society of Professional Engineers. The firm also has named Justin Graham as information management practice leader, a newly created position. He had been information management project manager for AMEC Environment & Infrastructure. Barge Waggoner ranks at No. 163 on ENR's list of The Top 500 Design Firms.

 

Edwards
Steve Edwards is now chairman, president and CEO of Black & Veatch, succeeding Len Rodman in a transition announced last April; since then, Edwards had been COO. Rodman is retiring after 42 years with the firm, including 15 years as its CEO.

Walter R. Huntley Jr. has joined Albany, N.Y.-based engineering firm CHA as senior vice president and director of strategic client development. The new role follows the firm's acquisition, in early December, of Huntley Partners, an Atlanta-based economic-development consulting firm he founded. Huntley also had been president of Atlanta Economic Development Corp. and chief of staff to former Mayor Maynard Jackson. CHA is formerly Clough, Harbor & Associates LLP.

Terri Elkowitz, a principal at VHB, a Watertown, Mass., consultant, has been named its regional environmental managing director for New York and New Jersey. She joined in 2009, following its acquisition of Freudenthal & Elkowitz Consulting Group, which she co-founded. Elkowitz, based in Hauppauge, N.Y., also is chairwoman of the Suffolk County Council on Environmental Quality.

Brian P. McGuire will join the Associated Equipment Distributors, Oak Brook, Ill., as president and CEO, as of Jan. 6. The group represents about 500 companies involved in the distribution, rental and support of equipment used in construction, mining, forestry, power generation, agriculture and industrial applications. He now serves as president of the Tooling and Manufacturing Association. McGuire will become only the third AED chief in its 60-year history, it says.

Davis
Kate Clemens Davis has joined the design firm HKS Inc. as vice president and design director of workplace strategies, based in Chicago. She will implement design across all practice areas of the firm. Davis had been a senior associate, design director and regional practice area leader at architecture firm Gensler.

Hill International has appointed Howard H. Haynes Jr. as senior vice president of the firm's construction-claims group operations in Florida, based in Orlando. He was senior vice president at Delta Consulting Group and also president and founder of Haynes Massa & Associates.

Leo Bandini has joined Lend Lease as vice president and business development director in Los Angeles. He had been executive vice president at Tishman Construction and also held executive roles at Swinerton Builders and Webcor Construction. Lend Lease also promoted Tom Plant to principal-in-charge for its Carolinas region. Based in Durham, N.C., he had been, since 2008, the firm's director of operations there.

Knutson Construction Services, Minneapolis, has named Todd Vigil as vice president of project development. He was director of business development at M.A. Mortenson Co., also based there.

Burns & McDonnell has promoted Chris Courtright and Don Chase to principal. Courtright is regional construction operations manager for its design-build division, based in Wallingford, Conn. Chase, now based in Calgary, Alberta, leads the firm's project work in the region.
