Though the COVID-19 pandemic impacted Atlanta’s construction market in 2020, Dominici reports that the fourth quarter produced a wave of project pursuits for area contractors, with “a healthy backlog of projects of all types in the budgeting and preconstruction stage,” he says. While the retail sector was affected by the pandemic, Dominici believes Atlanta’s population growth will spur a 2021 rebound in that sector as well as in the multifamily, health care, higher education and K-12 markets, among others.
