Contractors Use Innovative Delivery for Florida University Project
The project-delivery process for Broward College/Florida International University’s Miramar West Center started as a standard design-build. But when another tenant came onboard for the 89,000-sq-ft building, the owner switched to a public-private partnership (P3) model to help fund the facility. As a result, the project is credited as being the first public building built under a new Florida P3 law. Despite these and other changes to the original scope, and despite no schedule extension, contractors kept under budget and achieved substantial completion 63 days ahead of schedule.
